Hi William, seems we are in the same boat. I have been trying to get a fixed gear bike in Beijing.

You can get the traditional Bianchi Pista e.g. through the bike store “Windspeed” near Chaoyangmenwaidajie. For me it is not so interesting as I want some specific modifications (the people in the shop looked at me as if I am crazy. …well they actually know I am crazy by now) and I do not see why I need to pay the Euro price converted into RMB when I know that the US price is lower.

Would be cool to meet you if you are in Beijing.

Hello Ines and co,
Yeah, I think that the idea of a fixed gear bike is the one you buy for 200 kuai and do your shopping with. I fear that best bets for FG bikes must be in Hong-kong and the prices there are close to US ones. Maybe www.flyingball.com but most likely http://hkfixed.com (and also check http://hkfixed.blogspot.com/ via your favourite proxy)
web.mac.com/bkopi/Site/Rodafixa.html seems to be the current real site for hkfixed. good luck.
