Fixie Tricks and Chinese Rock
Today I got my back wheel spokes of my pink track bike tightened, changed the handlebar and put in my smaller front wheel. Then I went out to play around with my friends who were inline skating.

I uploaded some videos to youtube. Sorry but the formatting of this blog is still horrible if I try to display the videos embedded - so here are the links:

We had dinner in the Japanese lounge just to find out that everything has become incredibly expensive. Now I do not really recommend coming here for food. Maybe just for a drink and enjoying the nice view of Beijing.

After dinner we went to a listen to some live music in a small bar near the ancient Drum and Bell tower of Beijing. Tonight folk rocker Ma Tiao and his band were playing Chinese rock music. That was a good mixture of traditional Chinese sounds and hard rock music that went well with my Margaritas.

nes, i want to learn to ride while standing on the saddle and handlebars like you do. how should i practice?

Good to hear from you Marcus. I miss you and all the others from San Diego too.
Cool that you want to learn the stand on saddle and handlebar on your fixie! I would suggest try to put one foot on the saddle and one on the middle of the handlebar - it does not matter which one. The one on the handlebar should have a good grip of the handlebar as that foot is responsible for all the steering and it should not ever slip off (that is painful). First try riding like that and get the feeling of how the front foot can steer. Do not try to stand up and let go of the handlebar a “little bit”. For the standing up and getting down those are the most dangerous times and they should be done fast but controlled. Best would be to have someone walk next to you while you stand the first few times so you can get the feeling. That person could first hold the saddle and one of your hands.
Let me know if you have more questions.

thanks! =)
i guess im having trouble getting up there initially.
do you first put your lead foot on the bars first? or do you first put your foot on the saddle?

I agree, that is no so easy especially if your saddle is quite high. And it is easier if you have at least 1 peg on the rear wheel. Then you first step on that rear peg (with the foot that will go to the front in the end). That should give you some more clearance for you to get the other foot on the saddle. Then you move the foot from the rear peg to the handlebar.
I will try it without peg on the weekend. It must be possible as well.
